Tough Decision

October 28th, 2011

Again, I was confronted with a situation. In this instance, it came down to who to place a bet on. Both of the teams that were involved had valid reasons to lean me either way. One of the Champions league teams had been on quite the winning streak, even recently defeating last years champions. The other one had been my favourite team growing up, but had not been playing that well the past few games. Thus, you could see the dilemma that I was in. Do I go for the team that I think will win, or do I bet on the team that I want to win and have supported my entire life? Tough call, I know. Read the rest of this entry »

Betting On Chelsea Versus Arsenal Next Weekend

October 28th, 2011

Chelsea will be hoping to react to their embarrassing defeat at the hands of newly promoted Queen’s Park Rangers last weekend by securing a good result at home against Arsenal in their upcoming Premier League fixture this Saturday afternoon. Torres will no doubt return to their starting eleven following Didier Drogba’s straight read card against QPR – he will now be banned for Chelsea’s next three matches as Chris Hoy deemed the challenge to be violent conduct – and Villas-Boas will also need to find a replacement for Boswinga who also saw red at Loftus Road. Most likely Ivanovic will start at right back against the Gunners, while Alex might also start as Terry’s centre-back partner after David Luiz’s shocking performance against Neil Warnock’s men. Who Is Going To Win The Premier League This Season?

October 24th, 2011

Before Saturday’s game between the two teams from Manchester, I would have predicted that Manchester United would win the Premier League due to the experience that the manager and the squad possess. However, following their 6-1 mauling at home at the hands of their local rivals, it would appear that the balance of power at the top of the table has swung in favour of Roberto Mancini’s men. Manchester United fans will point to the fact that they were reduced to ten men for virtually the entirety of the second half, but this takes nothing away from the fact that City were simply irresistible going forward. Watching the Boxing in the Welsh Countryside

October 20th, 2011

This summer me and the whole family met up in Wales for a holiday getaway. We all chipped in to hire a cosy little cottage near Cardigan bay and the whole fortnight was absolutely incredible. My mum and dad were there, as was my aunt and uncle, and also me, my two brothers, and all our other halves. There was only one problem with this idyllic little Welsh getaway: no internet and no TV. Medieval Football

October 19th, 2011

If you think that modern football is a sport that promotes violence then you should take a look at its roots and think again. One of the earliest recurring football matches in Great Britain was known as The Royal Shrovetide Football Match, so called because it takes place annually on Shrove Tuesday, and has done so for at least the last eight centuries. It’s very likely that the game dates even earlier than this, but the original records have long since been destroyed by accidental fire. Many people believe that these early games of modern football were originally played with the heads of decapitated prisoners, which were usually tossed into the baying crowds to be mocked at and kicked about. Although this tradition originally started in Derbyshire, it soon spread throughout Europe and became something of an international sensation, though it’s not certain whether the kicking of the severed head was also included in this widespread explosion of popularity. Nowadays, thankfully football is a lot different and it would be a whole different ballgame altogether if you had to place your FA cup bet on a game involving a severed head. Who Is Going To Win This Year’s Champions League?

October 14th, 2011

Champions League BetIf you are trying to decide who you think is going to win this year’s Champions League so that you can place a bet on them, then I would suggest that you put your money on Barcelona. This is because they just have so much quality coursing through their team from defense through midfield to up front. Read the rest of this entry »

Jockey Jargon

October 14th, 2011

So, If you’ve been hanging around Cheltenham or Ascot recently, or have been watching the races on television, and, like me, you have no idea what most of the racing slang terms actually mean, then you’ve come to the right place. I’m going to try my best to debunk some of the more esoteric examples of jockey that gets thrown around liberally at these places, so that you can enjoy placing bets with more confidence, or just plain enjoy the whole spectacle. Betting On Who Is Going To Get Relegated From The Premiership This Season

October 7th, 2011

Trying to decide which three teams are most likely to get relegated from the Premiership this season so that you can make some money from it is a tricky question. I would say that it is quite likely that Swansea and Norwich will struggle to stay up over the entire season. They may be sitting ninth and tenth in the league respectively at the moment but they have each only registered one win and they do not have the strength in depth of squad to maintain their current positions over the entire season. Betting On The Australian Open

October 7th, 2011

Trying to decide who to bet on to win the Australian Open is a tricky question this year. A bet on any one of the dominant quartet in men’s tennis – Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and Murray – would make perfect sense, but trying to decide which of the four of them is actually going to win the tournament is tricky. Djokovic has been in fine form for the last year or so and deserves his world number one ranking but all three other players know that they could easily beat him on the day. Betting On Upcoming Premiership Games

October 6th, 2011

If your aim is to make money by laying bets on next week’s Premiership football games, then here are my suggestions regarding the bets that you should make. I study the form of teams and players ludicrously closely due to the fact that I am rather obsessed with fantasy football so you can be sure that my advice is more than sound.
